Home from Philippines
I got home late last night - wow, what a holiday. I really like the Philippines. Its a different world from back home in Britain. I'd like to thank the family I stayed with. I'm forever grateful for their hospitality and help. I had a great time.
I only scratched the surface and don't profess to be an expert, but in summary, here's some great things about the Philippines and Metro Manila area that I liked:
Prices. Everything is soooo cheap. I bought 3 cinema tickets for less than the price of 1 ticket back home. I bought lots of clothes, mainly t-shirts and shorts.
Heat. Its like a sauna. Hot and humid. You've got to experience it.
Food. I'm a fussy eater at the best of times but most of the Filipino food I ate was great! I recommend Chicken and Pork Adobo, Pork Haminado and Beef Calderetta.
Wowowee. The top show from the Philippines brings Filipinoes together for entertainment, quizzes and prizes.
Scenery. Sometimes squalid and untidy - always busy - the cities of Metro Manila are a site to behold. Then if you get out into the countryside its stunning beauty.
Friendly locals. Filipinoes are so friendly (if sometimes a little shy). Service in shops is great, especially clothes shops where you get individual attention to help make your choices.
